It’s official! I want to be like Tony Bennett when I grow up … His energy, charisma and vibrancy made him a force of nature last night during the performance. Paired up with a stunning voice like Lady Gaga’s, it was clear that we were part of a very special evening. This is how I imagine the days of the Rat Pack in Vegas – a classy stage, lots of Irving Berlin inspired music, big orchestra and cheek to cheek dancing.
The evening opened with some great jazz. The stage arranged with two dueling pianos and base set-ups on the left and right did lend itself beautifully to some jazz duels and amazing combined sets. Then Gaga and Bennett came out. What a combination of voices! The set list included classics like Cheek to Cheek, I Don’t Mean a Thing and of course Fire Fly, The Lady is a Tramp and I Left My Heart in San Francisco.
My personal favorite was a breathtaking performance of Nature Boy. What better way to go from 2014 to 2015 – “The greatest thing you’ll ever know is to love and to be loved in return” !!! They are playing the Chelsea at the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan again tonight. If you have a chance to get your hands on tickets, I promise you won’t regret it! I recommend to combine it with drinks at the Vesper bar – amazing lobby views – dinner at Rose. Rabbit. Lie -I had amazing rabbit fricassee and the filet mignon – and after show drinks at the Chandelier bar. It made a perfect evening!
