We are off to Sydney for a week. I had purchased tickets for Sarah Brightman’s residence last December already. I can’t wait to see this new production after a fabulous Nicole Scherzinger in London last year.
We are on UA 863 from SFO to SYD. Somehow my online check-in didn’t work – like recently to Shanghai through Tokyo. It must be related to the App not knowing the Visa status perhaps? Odd.
No line at the check-in counter. Hurricane Helene is causing havoc our east, so the yesterday fully booked Polaris Business class is now down to 54 booked of 60 as we are waiting on the lounge. I am #4 on the upgrade list. Fingers crossed,
I took this pic at the Clear line. Clearly something wrong with their timing, LOL.

We have an asymmetric upgrade and share the business class seat. My coach seat in Economy plus is actually OK as the middle seat remains empty. Lucky me 🙂
Arrival in Sydney!
It’s a muggy day. The Uber line is interesting as a car is only assigned via a code when you reach the front of the line.
We arrive at the Hotel Amora before 9 am, resist the A$150 per night offer to upgrade to a room that is available immediately. We leave our luggage and start exploring. We are in walking distance of The Rock area close to Harbour Bridge after a small breakfast at The Rocks Café. A fun small market on a Sunday Morning!

The iconic Opera house is showing from here already!
Back to the hotel for actual check-in and a nap.
An Evening with Friends in The Rocks
We are meeting up with local friends for a late afternoon/ evening in The Rocks Area. We start at the Endeavor Tap Rooms and have a fantastic dinner at Saki.
Very creative Japanese Cuisine.

Day 2 – Botanical Gardens and Bar 83
After a great breakfast at Avenue On George – we love the coffee in here in Australia – we opt for a stroll through the stunning Botanical Gardens, learning about Australia‘s storied and often controversial history and exploring the galleries.

We end up at Bar 83 in Sydney Tower after some solid support of the Australian economy at the Westfield Shopping Center. Amazing views!

Day 3 – Koalas, Blue Mountains and some stunning Harbour Views
Day 4 – Opera House, Silvie Paladino, Dinner at Bush and an Evening at Titanique
Day 5 – Shopping and Dinner at Lana
Day 6 – Sunset Boulevard with Sarah Brightman
Breakfast at Three Beans is fun and feels healthy. The Menu throws us off a bit as it is measured in KJ not KCal. Why, Australia, you were doing so great on the metric system so far 😉
