Immersive Theatre Travel

Attending CES From a Stage and Theatre Perspective!

This one will be fun, as it straddles both my days to day life and my passion for theatre.

I have not attended CES before, but I have attended Comdex when it existed. Back in the 90s both existed. I remember that my I walked off the sole of my shoe – well I guess the walks at Comdex was the final straw – and that it made the news of one of the Semiconductor specialty publications as a side note.

So how does a tech trade show straddle theatre?

Well! Let me tell you πŸ™‚ I have been a fan of immersive theatre long enough. And realities are layering, as written in β€œWill 2024 Be The Year Of Layered Realities?” So I am interested beyond my day job in semiconductors in the end applications of VR/XR etc.

Travel in and out

I heard horror stories about getting to and from, as well as getting around in Vegas. So I got myself on a relatively early flight leaving 8:20 from SJC. A brief dispute with the Uber App which claims to know better than I when I need to be at the airport. Well, it does not know that I have CLEAR and TSA Pre.

It takes less than 5 minutes to get through security. Only annoyance here is that the TSA Pre lines at SJC do not have bins by default so putting my jacket (it’s 5 C for crying out loud) on the plain band feels off.

Classic first world problem.

Time for breakfast. Treating myself to Trader Vic’s and a Hawaiian Panini. Why not.

Boarding is seamless and fast. The $20 for Early Bird CheckIn got me a position on the A-Group on Southwest and it was well worth it not having to compete for overhead space.
